Buildings of the Year 2008

Presentation of the Buildings of the Year awards is a highlight of the National Frame Building Association (NFBA) Expo. This year was no exception. A large audience gathered at the opening session at Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center in Nashville to “oohh-and-aahh” and applaud the winners of these prestigious awards.

In all, 44 projects and their builders were honored and recognized in 13 categories, as well as four special awards for exceptional projects in various categories. Those are shown here.

Winners in each category had the opportunity to list the names of the suppliers whose products,  such as cladding, windows, insulation, etc., are used in the project. Those supplier names are listed as provided.

Judges’ Special Award: Jim Simon of Tailored Buildings Systems, Grand Rapids, Mich.

Lighthouse Academy, built for Wedgwood Christian Services, is a charter high school that gives a second chance to at-risk students who have  limited educational options. The structural integrity, flexibility in design, speed of construction and cost savings made post-frame the only choice.

This project came in at a lower cost in post-frame, which is important to school budgets.
