Presidents of six NFBA Chapters met on May 25 at NFBA’s headquarters in Glenview, Ill. The goal of the meeting was to help promote better communications and idea sharing among the chapters, and determine what resources the national organization could best spend their time on to help the chapters.
Attending the meeting were Larry Edema, NFBA chairman-elect; Brian Keane, NFBA Heartland Chapter; Tim Little, NFBA Atlantic Northeast Chapter; Jeff Meyer, Wisconsin Frame Building Association; Mike Rinks, Michigan Frame Building Association; Don Smith, NFBA Kentucky/Tennessee (Boone/Crockett) Chapter and Bryan Wolford, Ohio (Buckeye) Chapter.
Each chapter provided updates on their opportunities, challenges and best practices. The group toured NFBA’s offices and learned more about the capabilities of the national organization and its plans for the future.
According to Larry Edema, “Working more closely with the chapters will allow NFBA to get closer to our members and better understand their needs. We feel that improved communications and cooperation between the chapters themselves, and national and the chapters is good for everyone”. Tim Little, president of the NFBA Atlantic Northeast Chapter, added, “It was great to have quality time with the other chapter leaders. I learned a lot during the meeting and feel there are many things done at the national level which members and chapters can and should utilize. I am looking forward to the next meeting and working more closely with the national staff”.
NFBA currently has nine chapters including the Heartland Chapter which was formed in late 2009. The nine chapters are: NFBA Heartland Chapter, NFBA Atlantic Northeast Chapter, Wisconsin Frame Building Association, Michigan Frame Building Association , NFBA Kentucky/Tennessee Chapter, Ohio Buckeye Chapter, Indiana Frame Building Association, NFBA Mid-Atlantic Chapter, Pacific Northwest Frame Building Association.
All NFBA Chapters will be provided with meeting space and other amenities at the 2011 Frame Building Expo March 2-4 in Indianapolis.
