Englert Environmental unveils rain harvesting solutions

Englert Environmental, a provider of renewable resource solutions, unveiled the Englert Rainwater Harvesting System, a rainwater harvesting solution that integrates Englert’s metal roofing and rainware products with the most advanced rainwater harvesting technology in the country

The new Englert Rainwater Harvesting System integrates Englert’s Kynar-coated standing seam roof, the Englert LeafGuard and Gutter Tunnel leaf protection systems and three compact residential rainwater harvesting systems that can capture  225, 400 and 1,700 gallons of water for non-potable uses including landscape irrigation, vehicle cleaning and non-potable household uses such as toilet flushing and laundering.

The new Englert Rainwater Harvesting Systems are available with or without Englert’s PVDF-coated standing seam roof system and Englert’s LeafGuard and Gutter Tunnel leaf protection systems.  The collection and storage systems include:

•    The Englert Traditional 225 RHS is 225 gallon capacity, above ground rainwater harvesting system designed for non-potable water uses including home landscaping and irrigation, vehicle cleaning, household toilet flushing and laundering. The 225-gallon, compact rainbox tank is easily connected to a standard residential downspout and is scalable in 75-gallon increments to increase capacity. Rainbox tanks comes in opaque black and forest green to prevent algae growth. The Traditional 225 RHS also comes with a downspout filter, automatic pump system and accessory fittings that can be installed in less than an hour by a single installer. Its automatic pump can be easily disconnected and reconnected to rainbox tanks located at other downspouts around the house, providing additional water for residential uses. The entire system can be easily disconnected for winterizing as well.

•    The Englert Classic 400RHS is a 400-gallon capacity rainwater harvesting system featuring an  above ground vertical SlimFit tank available in opaque black, forest green and sierra tan to prevent algae growth. The Englert Classic 400RHS is designed for non-potable water uses including home landscaping and irrigation, vehicle cleaning, household toilet flushing and laundering. It features a first flush diverter which channels the first flush of water from the roof into a chamber. Once the chamber is full, fresh water flows into the SlimFit tank. The diverter improves rainwater quality and helps extend the life of the unit’s pump and household fixtures that will be using the water. The Englert Classic 400RHS also features a downspout filter, automatic pump system, pump cover and accessory fittings which can be installed in two hours by one or two installers.

The Englert Ultra 1700RHS is an 1,700-gallon capacity rainwater harvesting system with a below ground, polyethylene tank and is designed for non-potable water uses including home landscaping and irrigation, vehicle cleaning, household toilet flushing and laundering. The Englert Ultra 1700RHS comes with a downspout basket filter to prevent debris from entering the chamber. The unit also features a calmed inlet which prevents the disturbance and re-suspension of fine sediments that gather on the bottom of the tank. The inlet also introduces oxygen into the lower layers of the tank which maintains a fresh supply of water while preventing anaerobic conditions from forming. The Englert Ultra 1700RHS also has an automatic pumping system and accessory fittings which can be installed in two days by two to three installers. Options include a level indicator, rain tank infiltration block and faux rock cover for the pump.

All three of the Englert rainwater harvesting systems come with a one-year limited warranty on parts.

“Englert offers architects and builders the first single source for a total rainwater harvesting system,” says Tom Dyszkiewicz, senior vice president of business development at Englert. “No longer must architects and specifiers gather components from different resources and then pull those components together to create a viable system,” said Dyszkiewicz. “Now they can order a single system that will arrive with all components in a single shipment with professional technical and service support to help with installation.”

Englert is offering the new systems for residential and small commercial applications but can also team with large commercial builders and architects to provide rainwater harvesting systems for commercial, educational and government applications as well.

“Metal roofing by itself is the most environmentally sound material—easily meeting standards of recyclability, reuse, manufacturing and energy savings,” notes Englert’s business development chief. “The key now is to stay abreast of new technologies that work hand in hand with metal to set new levels of energy savings and cost efficiency in a building,” emphasizes Dyszkiewicz.

“There is a growing, legitimate concern in this country about our dwindling water resources, particularly as areas of the Southeast, Southwest and West continue to grow.”

Dyszkiewicz observes that while population is growing, water resources are finite and engineers and architects are being pressed to come up with new solutions to meet water demands despite limited supplies. In areas where water is scarce, architects and builders already know the collection efficiency of non-potable water depends on such factors as roof material, diversion amount, and design retention.

The Englert PVDF-coated roof does not leach and Englert’s line of leaf protection systems including LeafGuard and Gutter Tunnel eliminate much of the debris that channels into conventional gutter systems before it reaches the filtering systems and containment tanks included in surface and underground rainwater harvesting systems.  LeafGuard is a one-piece seamless hooded gutter system which draws rainwater down and around the underside of the hood and into the gutter. Gutter Tunnel is a carefully engineered, debris filter system with two filters–one on top of the gutter and the other inside—that block leaves, pine needles and debris from entering the gutter, allowing rainwater to flow freely and easily through the gutter trough.
