The National Framers Council is offering a free copy of it’s “Avoiding Electrical Shock” download to builders though the end of May. The download is part of the NFC’s FrameSAFE Program and is being offered during National Electrical Safety Month.
In making the announcement, the NFC noted: “According to the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI), 60% of all fatal electrical injuries in 2015 occurred in the construction industry. Since 2003, the construction industry has remained the leading source of fatal electrical injuries. In 2015 the industry logged 81 such fatalities, which is more than four times that of the second-highest source. Furthermore, the construction industry rate of nonfatal electrical injury involving days away from work (1.3/10,000) surpassed the utility industry rate (0.6/10,000) in 2015.
“While the ESFI’s 23 years of electrical injury data shows substantial improvement in electrical safety overall, it is clear there is still room for improvement in the construction industry. May is National Electrical Safety Month. Take this opportunity to make sure your employees are aware of the dangers of working with electricity and the importance of proper lockout/tagout procedures.”
