ATAS International, Inc. welcomed members of the China Construction Metal Structure Association on October 26. The visit was part of a 10-day trip of association delegates to learn about U.S. steel manufacturing procedures.
Located in Beijing, CCMSA was founded in 1981 to promote, educate and support the steel industry in China, focusing mainly on the pre-engineered building industry and structural steel. In October, officers and managers from Chinese steel companies, building materials companies and architectural design companies came to the states. In addition to visiting ATAS, the 10 delegates attended the trade show METALCON International in Las Vegas and traveled to Peddinghaus Corp., a steel fabricating company in Chicago. They also explored Hollywood, Calif.; Washington D.C.; and New York City.
While visiting ATAS, a Lehigh University industrial engineering student, Yingying Shi, assisted as an interpreter. The group toured the main plant, viewing the manufacturing processes, and the adjacent Grant Way facility, observing the energy-efficient InSpire wall system installed on the building. After the tours, everyone enjoyed a traditional Pennsylvania Dutch meal at ATAS.
“InSpire is our transpired solar collector and fresh-air heating system, and the group was interested in learning about its configuration and components,” says Dick Bus, president of ATAS. “They also wanted to learn about ATA-Solar, a building integrated photovoltaic system. I enjoyed spending the day with the delegates, discussing steel manufacturing and sustainable construction.”
Founded in 1963, ATAS International, Inc., a leading manufacturer of metal roofing, wall and ceiling panels, produces systems for commercial and residential buildings. The ATAS product line offers more than 20 profiles available in aluminum, steel, zinc and copper. These profiles include: standing and batten seams; corrugated; curved; tapered; shingles; tiles; shakes; and narrow or wide ribbed panels with hidden or exposed fasteners. Rainware, crown moulding and perimeter edge trim are also available with the same finish to match or accent a roofing or wall system. ATAS offers energy efficient building envelope technology, such as cool roofing products that are Enerty Star qualified and InSpire, the transpired solar collector, which utilizes precision perforated metal panels to preheat ventilation air via solar energy. ATA-Solar, a building integrated photovoltaic product complements ATAS’ sustainable product offerings. Profiles are coated with a PVDF finish in 30 standard colors. ATAS has four manufacturing facilities in the United States: two facilities, including the headquarters, in Allentown, Pa.; one in Maryville, Tenn.; and one in Mesa, Ariz. All ATAS locations are certified to ISO 9001:2008 with design.
