From Steel Guru:
AISI’s Steel Market Development Institute has announced that Patrick Bush, industry manager, construction, sheet and strip converters, North American flat rolled marketing at United States Steel Corporation is the recipient of the 2009 Market Development Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award recognizes steel industry professionals who have made significant contributions over the course of their careers in advancing the competitive use of steel in the marketplace. These contributions include influencing strategic direction and increasing interest in market development by their colleagues. The award was presented by AISI chairman James Wainscott.
David Jeanes president of AISI’s Steel Market Development Institute said that "A key component to the success of the Steel Market Development Institute program is the development of strategic partnerships, where industry representatives can work together with customers and designers in a pre competitive environment to advance steel solutions in the marketplace. Bush has been an important resource over the years in building those partnerships that have advanced steel solutions in the construction marketplace. Pat provided leadership throughout his career in establishing collaborative programs with key customer groups such as the Metal Building Manufacturers Association, The Metal Initiative, the Metal Construction Association, and the Metal Roofing Alliance. By example, he led the steel industry in taking an ownership interest in these partnerships and providing a crucial link between steel producers and their downstream markets."
Robert Wills, VP of SMDI construction market development said that "Working with Mr Pat at the committee level, I am appreciative of his combination of construction market experience with a clear, quiet leadership style. Pat is regarded with deep respect by all who have worked with him for his knowledge of markets and trends, his clear guidance, and most of all for his commitment to making steel the material of choice in the construction marketplace. It is especially gratifying for all of us to honor his lifetime contributions to the steel industry with this award."
The award inscription reads "Presented to Mr Patrick R Bush in recognition of your significant contributions in advancing collaborative market development in the commercial construction market."
This is only the second time that the Market Development Lifetime Achievement Award has been presented since it was launched in 2004.
