International Roofing Expo ’09 preview

Leaders from every sector of the roofing industry — including contractors, builders, remodelers, building owners, facility managers, consultants, architects and designers — will gather in Las Vegas for the 2009 International Roofing Expo at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center on February 3-5.

Attendees will discover new products and vendors, gain invaluable knowledge and skills and network with peers, mentors and the industry’s most respected experts.

“The International Roofing Expo continues to be the ultimate gathering for the industry,” says Donna Bellantone, director of the IRE. “The show is a great venue for the most influential players to help drive the future direction of our industry.”
Attendance for the 2009 event is expected to draw more than 8,500 professionals nationwide from rookies to top executives to senior-level managers.

Known as the roofing industry’s leading commercial and residential marketplace, the Expo is owned and produced by Hanley Wood Exhibitions. HW purchased the show from the National Roofing Contractors Association in 2004.

New this year
This year’s attendees gain access to the new electronic promotions program, RoofingExpoConnect, an online network of attendees and exhibitors. This powerful tool enables you to search for products and vendors, send e-mails to exhibitors before, during and after the show, set on-site appointments and efficiently plan your time at the show — with just a click of a button. On the show floor
The show floor will feature a wide range of multi-dimensional products, services, technology and innovations from nearly 500 exhibiting companies in 1,050 booths.

On display will be only products introduced to the marketplace since February 2008, making this the ultimate destination for ensuring attendees are updated on the most innovative products and hottest industry trends.

The newest feature to the IRE show is the Green Pavilion, sponsored by the Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing. Highlighting exhibitors with green and energy-efficient products and services, the Green Pavilion is the place to find the latest cutting-edge information on sustainability and environmentally friendly roofing maintenance, equipment and construction.

Live demonstrations add an extra dimension to the learning process with hands-on, interactive education. Watch and learn as masters show you how to use, sell and install products for maximum profitability and effectiveness. These 45-minute intensive live instructions cover a variety of challenging topics, giving you step-by-step instructions and are free with all registration packages.

Learn tricks, tips and detailed instructions through a series of Exhibitor Product Clinics where key exhibitors present demonstrations of their products, equipment and materials. At the clinics, you will meet in a small group setting and get an up-close look these products.

Special events
Bill Walton, one of the most illustrious basketball players of all time, will provide the Keynote Address, “Nothing but Net” on February 3, from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. The former NBA star, who found great success both on the court and in broadcasting, will discuss the characteristics that create success in business, including focusing on teamwork, overcoming adversity, hard work, the fundamentals and a positive attitude. The Keynote is sponsored by United Solar Ovonic and included free of charge in all registration packages, but advance registration is required. The Exhibit Hall opens shortly following the Keynote.

After the show closes on Tuesday, February 3, show participants are invited to attend the Welcome Party. From 6:00 to 8:30 p.m., this not-to-be missed party will take place at the ultimate nightlife destination in Las Vegas — TAO at the Venetian Hotel. You’ll discover countless opportunities to mix and mingle with old friends, network with industry leaders and innovators while enjoying delicious hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine and soda.

For admittance, you must register in advance. All guests must be 21 years of age with valid ID. Complimentary shuttle service provided to and from all official show hotels. Admission is free for conference registrants and $30 for Expo only registrants.

Expand your expertise, acquire new skills, earn continuing education credits and take your business to the next level with this intensive, high-energy conference educational conference, featuring 48 sessions in eight tracks.

Whether you install, service or sell roofing products, you’ll find a wide variety of educational opportunities to fit your needs with tracks addressing key roofing segments, including technical, workplace safety, leadership/management, green building, legal/HR, money matters, sales/service and general business.

The target audience includes commercial/residential/metal contractors, owners/CEOs/general managers, superintendents/foremen, architects/designers/consultants, salesmen/estimators, manufacturers/ suppliers and building owners/facility managers. 

Of the 48 sessions, 92 percent feature new topics, with six of last year’s most popular sessions back by demand. Thirty-three sessions involve issues relevant to the residential roofing professional, while the Spouse Program offers 28 sessions for the involved spouses who are looking for ways to help manage and grow their family businesses.

With sustainability and environmentally friendly roofing growing in demand, the new green building track will teach attendees about energy efficiency, green roofs, solar energy and how the green movement affects the roofing industry.

Designed to help attendees advance their businesses and careers, all 48 sessions have been approved by the American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System learning units and the RCI, Inc. continuing education hours. In addition, 23 courses have been approved by Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation and the Construction Industry Licensing Board.
