Dave Hunt, the 2012 Metal Roofing Hall of Fame inductee passed away February 18 and will be missed by many friends in the industry.

Obituary: David L. Hunt, 68, of Rome, formerly of Westernville, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2013, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford.
He was born on April 17, 1944, in Troy, New York, the son of Oliver and Jean Bennett Hunt. He was an Albany Academy graduate. David attended the University of Missouri, School of Mines at Rolla.
On November 18, 1995, David was united in marriage to Anne Schade in Old Forge.
He was employed by Revere Copper Products for forty-two years, retiring in May of 2011. Upon retirement, David opened a consulting business, Copper Hunt, where he planned to continue operating while fulfilling his dream of living in Costa Rica.
He was a member of the fraternity Phi Kappa Alpha, Alpha Kappa Chapter, Rolla, Missouri, the Roof Consultants Institute and the Roofing Industry Committee on Weather Issues. David was a past Chairman of Copper and Brass Fabricator’s Council Environmental Committee. He was a past member of the Board of Directors Metal Construction Association, the National Roofing Contractors Association, and the Copper Development Association (USA) committees. He was the co-author of Revere Copper’s sheet copper design manual Copper and Common Sense (Copper and Common Sense is the first modern sheet copper design manual; it is the most widely referenced copper manual in the United States.)
David was recently inducted in the 2012 Metal Roofing Magazine “Hall of Fame”.
Surviving besides his loving wife, Anne; are six daughters and three sons-in-law, Katie Ledoux, of Jamestown, NY, Stephanie Molly, of Lake Wales, FL, Ruth Molly and her significant other, Nick Green, of Ashville, NY, Pam and Eddie Guidi, of Albany, Erin and Andy Creelman, of Vinalhaven, ME, and Leighann and Shaun Chilles, of Vinalhaven, ME; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dennis and Aimee Molly, of Johnstown, PA, Matthew Molly, of West Branch, NY, and John and Melissa Molly, of Niagara Falls; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Pat Rielly, of Renssalaer, Cindy and Peter Glass, of Hurley, NY, Lucy and George Pieper, of Lake George, and Melissa and Don Gilligan, of Renssalaer; a brother, Jon Hunt, of Saratoga; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at 5:00 PM at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
