Berger Building Products
Berger manufactures snow retention products for standing seam roofs. The Real Tool and Snow Meister products mount on the seam, making installation a breeze. The Snow Rail is unique because it is the only system to offer steel rail protection between/below the standing seams: No clips, no flags. All of these products can be color matched to the roof.
Regardless of the style, composition or slope of the roof, or whether it covers the family home or business, Bradco Supply has a snow guard to fit. Bradco carries snow guards made from copper, stainless steel, bronze, galvanized iron or clear polycarbonate, as well as in a wide variety of stamped patterns and ornamental casings.
SnowShoes withstand heavy snow loads at low temperatures. Molded from tough polycarbonate polymer with a translucent matte finish, they bond aggressively to all metals including PVDF and many other dissimilar materials including slate, tile, EPDM and PVC. Installation is easy with DuraSil silicone moisture cure adhesive in every kit that never shrinks — or stinks — and eliminates the need for maintenance required by screws or fasteners that punch holes in roofs.
ColorGard mounts to standing seam panels with the patented S-5! clamp, which does not penetrate the panel or require glue. It installs in minutes, any time of year, with holding strength of up to six times that of other snow guards. Patented VersaBracket can be used with almost any face-fastened metal panel system. The ColorGard cross-member fastens to the VersaBracket with self drilling screws. SnoRail/SnoFence, available in aluminum, brass and stainless steel, is installed on standing seam roofs using S-5! utility clamp.
East Coast Roof Specialties
IceBrakes are metal snow guards for metal roofs. IceBrakes are durable cast aluminum, pad-style snow guards intended to be installed directly to the metal roof pan using high-quality Durasil brand adhesive. IceBrakes are installed with no roof penetrations and are available in two sizes to accommodate most metal roof panel profiles. Each size is available in economical bare mill finish or in powder coated colors. Eighteen colors are in stock for immediate shipment.
Follansbee offers the original metal Sno-Gem, and the half-carat Sno-Gem, manufactured from Follansbee’s TCS II, an architectural stainless steel coated with Follansbee’s patented ZT (zinc/tin) alloy, which offers enhanced corrosion resistance, formability, solderability and durability. The snow guards provide a 3-inch and 3.5-inch barrier, per unit, against snow and ice.
The Ideal Guard, offered in 10 standard colors, can be installed on any type of roof. A galvanized steel one-inch diameter tube runs through galvanized G-90 steel brackets fastened to the roof with four 14×2 wood screws or steel screws and a lock barrier. Brackets are available with 1-4 holes for 1-4 tubes.
Levi’s Nails & Screws
Levis Nails & Screws stocks a full line of snow guards called Snow Defender. With three different types in stainless steel available, these guards are powder coated in stock with many different colors to choose from. Levi’s recently introduced another new snow guard called the Snow Defender PC240, which is made from polycarbonate Lexan 103-112.
Petersen Aluminum carries the S-5! snow retention system which utilizes clamps for attachment in lieu of adhesives or screws. The S-5! system does not harm the panel finish and would not void the finish warranty as many of the adhesives types can do. The S-5 ColorGard has been inventoried by Petersen for several years because of it’s performance and strength.
The Pennsylvania company offers snow guards installed on the panel and on the standing seam. The Little Bear is a U-shaped guard that cups snow inside for more effective protection and is small enough to fit between the stiffening ribs on agricultural and corrugated panels. The company’s Universal Guards are designed for standing seam and corrugated roofing. The Standing Seam Guard has a bottom bar to hold back snow and ice, while an optional top bar holds back deeper snow.
RainTrade offers the most extensive selection of snow guards for virtually every type of roof. RainTrade has snow guards for metal, slate, asphalt and cedar shake roofs. RainTrade can provide a free custom layout for any application.
ColorGard dramatically reduces the risks associated with rooftop avalanches and maintains the clean appearance of the roof with perfect color and finish matching. SnoBlox-SnoJax offers the choice of adhesive or mechanical attachment and six models to fit most panels and budgets. The Eco-Blox “green” snow guard solution is the industry’s first recycled snow guard made from post consumer polycarbonate, allowing a customer to buy “green” and still know they are using a trusted and proven snow guard made with materials comprised mostly of recycled 5-gallon water bottles and compact discs. The Eco-Blox is based on the popular “Deuce” model and can be adhesive or mechanically fastened and requires a 1-1/2-inch flat mounting area.
Sno-Gem introduces a snow bar/fence system, the Sno-Barricade. This clamp-to-the-seam system is designed for new or existing roof systems. It’s the most aesthetically pleasing, easy-to-install and economical system on the market. SnoStop is a pre-engineered snow guard system that can be color matched to the project. The system is comprised of die cast brackets and galvanized steel tubes engineered specifically to match local snow loads. SnoStop offers a penetrating and non-penetrating system which attaches to the standing seam of a metal panel. SnoStop Plus is a polycarbonate snow guard with a unique patented feature that allows heat trace cable to be integrated with the system.
Keep ice and snow in its place with Snow Protect snow retention products. The Michigan company has a variety of products, many of which are brand new. Some products are almost invisible when installed; manufactured from clear polycarbonate plastic with ultraviolet additives for protection against fading — also available in a variety of colors to match a metal roof.
The Colorbar System is an extruded aluminum bar with a 2-inch strip of metal that can be inserted into the face of the bar so it matches the metal roof. The 2-inch PVDF strip of metal is available in standard colors. The Colorbar System uses stainless steel clamps that do not penetrate the standing seam roof or use adhesives. With the same clamp, the traditional Snobar system can be used. It features a 1×1-inch non-corrosive bar available in a mill finish or painted to match the roof.
