PPG Industries reached an agreement with BASF Corp. to acquire that company’s North American coil and extrusion coatings business. The agreement does not include the COEX businesses of BASF SE in Europe, South America and Asia.
BASF’s North American COEX business serves the construction, appliance, transportation, HVAC, lighting fixture and extrusion industries. The business operates manufacturing sites in Decatur, Ala., and Monterrey, Mexico, as well as a production line in Belvidere, N.J. and employs approximately 200 people.
PPG will acquire saleable BASF inventory, customer list and book of business as well as various patents and trade names associated with acquired products. BASF will continue to supply products from Decatur, Belvidere and Monterrey under a manufacturing supply agreement for 11 to 12 months, after which BASF will close the Decatur facility and the Belvidere facility’s Plastisol line.
Englert adds field service vans for onsite maintenance
Englert unveiled a new machine service program supported by a fleet of trucks that will visit customers to help with the installation of new equipment as well as service machines already in the field.
Englert customers are seeing a roll forming machine services van at each Englert field service center set up to routinely provide repair and maintenance for Englert roll forming machines as well as brakes, shears and seamers.
— Englert announced all of its standard colors for metal roofing material, including its PermaMetallic colors, are now LEED compliant for steep slope roofing applications. All of Englert’s colors exceed the LEED Solar Reflective Index minimum requirement of 29, a key factor for architects seeking LEED certification for energy savings on roofing materials.

Met-Tile publishes new ‘cool roof’ rural flyer
Met-Tile, Inc., an Energy Star partner, published a new flyer describing rural applications for its metal tile panel cool roofing, which combines the popular look of tile with energy savings and all-weather performance.
The two-sided flyer showcases Met-Tile rural projects including barns, equestrian buildings, storage facilities, residences and more. Weighing just 125 pounds per square, Met-Tile is a fraction the weight of clay and concrete tiles, yet it provides a surprisingly authentic look. It allows owners of existing projects to upgrade to the look of tile without costly truss reinforcement. On new projects, it can allow substantial savings on substructure costs.
