TAMKO’s new synthetic: Tam-Shield

TAMKO Building Products added a new product to its underlayment line called Tam-Shield synthetic underlayment.

Tam-ShieldBenefits of Tam-Shield
Tam-Shield is lightweight and comes in a 10-square roll for increased coverage per roll compared to traditional felt underlayments.  In addition, the new Tam-Shield is very strong and has excellent skid resistance and tear resistance.

Ease of installation
To help with the ease of installation, the underlayment is printed with lay lines and guides which indicate where to install cap nails and nail guides for high wind installation. Tam-Shield comes in a light-gray color which provides a cooler working surface when installing as opposed to traditional black felt.

Warranty and product information
Tam-Shield comes with a 25-year Limited Material Warranty. This underlayment is not adversely affected by UV rays for up to 180 days, however it should not be used as the primary roof covering and the final roof covering must be installed before the structure is exposed to adverse weather conditions such as wind-driven rain, high-wind, hail, ice storms, etc.

Tam-Shield Synthetic Underlayment is produced at TAMKO’s Joplin, Mo., and Dallas facilities. It comes in either a 5-square (48-inches x 125-feed) or a 10-square roll (48-inches x 250-feet).
