ST JOSEPH, MICHIGAN— The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has completed a revised standard, ANSI/ASAE EP484.3 DEC2017, Diaphragm Design of Metal-Clad, Wood-Frame Rectangular Buildings.
The standard was revised to incorporate data from research completed at Washington State University through the National Frame Building Association. Additions include support information and design considerations for unit shear strength of steel clad wood-framed shear walls.
EP484.3 is available now and will be submitted for incorporation into the next version of the International Building Code (2021 IBC Section 2306 on Allowable Stress Design for wood materials).
ASABE members with standards access and those with site-license privileges can access the full-text via electronic download on the ASABE online Technical Library at elibrary.asabe.org/.
