Bernon G. Perkins Award Winner Henry A. Getz Dies at Age 97

Henry A. Getz, former president of Morton Buildings, Inc., and a pioneer in post-frame construction, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2017 at the age of 97.

Getz was honored for his contributions to the industry with the NFBA’s Bernon G. Perkins Award at the 2016 Frame Building Expo.

A celebration of life reception will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Sat., Nov. 25, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, Illinois.

Henry was born Feb. 10, 1920. He married Ruth Unsicker on May 31, 1943 in Morton. 

He lived his entire life in Morton, serving as the president of Morton Buildings, Inc. from its founding until 2001.

Surviving are four children, Jan Rouse, Marsha Woodhouse, Joe Getz, and Peter Getz; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Henry was preceded in death by his loving wife Ruth and his brother John.
