Truck Centers Inc. has an impressive expanse of sales, service and parts areas, all centered around the goal of increasing efficiency and customer comfort. The Effingham, Illinois, facility includes an 81′ wide x 208′ long and 24′ wide x 56′ long front and back parts and sales counter, offices for the service manager, parts manager, the general manager, office manager and sales staff, built with traditional post-frame construction from Morton Buildings. The 125′ wide x 134′ long shop includes 18 bays with a wash bay, a detail bay, an alignment rack and overhead cranes. The shop was constructed with steel interior support columns and 6.75 inch x 28.6 inch glu-lam rafters at 20 foot on center. This open ceiling configuration allowed for the installation of two 7.5 ton overhead cranes. The rooftop solar system will produce nearly enough power to support the facility while it is in operation. The flexibility, clear-span capabilities, and energy efficiency of post-frame construction helped meet the owners’ needs in this new facility.
