The Structural Insulated Panel Association presented its 2014 Building Excellence Awards April 29 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Judges were Matt Belcher of Verdatek Solutions, Chris Fennell of Building Insight, and independent architectural designer Mehrdad Dabbagh.
The winners were:
Overall Competition Winner and winner in the Commercial/ Industrial/ Institutional: Premier SIPs for the Pearl Izumi USA Corporate Headquarters, Louisville, Colo. General contractor: Haselden Construction. Architects: Arch 11, ZGF Architects and Buro Happold.
Overall Competition Runner Up: Enercept for Brazos Valley Pediatric Dentistry, Texas, also winner of the Commercial/Industrial/Institutional under 10,000 sq. ft. category. Designed by W.C. Scarmardo. Built by Marek Brothers Construction.
Affordable Housing: Extreme Panel Technologies for the LEED Platinum home built by St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity in River Falls, Wis.
Agricultural: Energy Panel Structures show building at the Husker Harvest Days farm show in Grand Island, Neb.
Multifamily: Premier SIPs for the Frank Hawkins Mixed Income Phase 1 project in Las Vegas, Nev. Design: Winston Henderson Architects.
Renovation: Extreme Panel Technologies for the Thompson Addition and Retrofit located in Park Rapids, Minn.
Single Family Home over 3,000 sq. ft.: Premier SIPs for the Wachtler Residence in Gig Harbor, Wash. Builder: Wachtler Marshall.
Honorable mentions were awarded to Energy Panel Structures for Multifamily; and Hall & Wright Builders for Single Family Home over 3,000 sq. ft.; and Structures NW – Single Family Home under 3,000 sq. ft.
