NASCAR fans in Saskatchewan can get their engines revved and ready to head to Wadena on July 28. Leland Industries founder Byron Nelson, a former Wadena resident, is bringing several NASCAR vehicles to the town the day before they are set to race in Saskatoon. A Wadena newspaper reported on July 24 that two cars are confirmed for the appearance, but as many as five are expected.
"We will be racing at the Indy in Edmonton on Sunday (July 26) and the plan is to bring them to Wadena on Monday night," says Nelson. "After getting some rest we will bring them out for everyone to see the next morning before we head back to Saskatoon for a pre-race show."
According to Nelson, the Wadena trip rounds out an exciting season. He was excited to learn that Saskatoon was added to the NASCAR line-up and it dovetailed well with the celebration of his company’s 25th year in business. Leland Industries, a leading North American fastener company based in the Toronto area, started in 1984.
Leland is a sponsor for Dodge’s NASCAR No. 9 Dodge Avenger, driven by Mark Dilley. A former CASCAR Super Series National Champion, Dilley is in his third year of competition in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
