American Buildings Company, a Eufaula, Ala.-based manufacturer and supplier of pre-engineered metal building systems, was recently honored by City of Eufaula officials for its employees’ hard work and devotion to improve local park conditions.
During a ceremony this spring, the renovated pavilion in Creek Town Park was dedicated to American Buildings and employees who assisted in building it.
As part of a 40-year practice of no worker lay-offs, Nucor Corporation, ABC’s parent company, puts employees to work within the community when plant workload decreases. The most recent project in the Eufaula community was renovating the picnic pavilion, refurbishing eight dugouts and constructing eight soccer goals for Creek Town Park.
“We want to thank American Buildings for all they’ve done for us,” said Craig Harris, Eufaula Parks and Recreation board chair. “While many are looking to cut back on what they can give to the community, American Buildings looked for an opportunity to give more to the community.”
In addition to the park improvements, ABC employees have repaired Dumpsters, picked up litter and constructed picnic tables, work tables and benches for the city and residents. With ABC’s help refurbishing the Dumpsters, the city saved over $85,000.
