Metal Roofing Magazine's Idea Book 2008
April 22, 2008
This issue of Metal Roofing Magazine is for you. It’s intent is to show you the many possibilities of architectural metal roofing. We have accepted metal roofing projects from 36 manufacturers who wanted to show you what they think is some of their best work. Their hope is you’ll consider working with them in the future. Below we have created .pdf links to all 36 projects featured in this year's Idea Book, listed by manufacturer. We believe the idea book is some of our best work and we hope you’ll sign up for a free subscription. Each issue of Metal Roofing Magazine is about what metal roofing installers and architects together can do, are doing and want to do. As you’ll see within these pages, they have partnered to complete some impressive projects. From private residences to schools, churches and auto dealerships, metal roofing helped bring it all together. Metal leads the way in sustainability There is an ever-growing awareness about the need to respect the planet we inhabit. With that awareness comes a sensible desire to leave a smaller carbon footprint. Metal roofing is made from recycled content as well as recyclable. Other roofing materials end up in landfills — and most can’t come close to matching the life cycle of metal roofing systems. The metal roofing community has embraced the concept of sustainability — and not just because it’s become a popular thing to do. Metal has always boasted qualities of sustainability. Recent technologies have helped paint systems become more reflective, using “cool” pigments. As you know, those reflective qualities help reduce cooling costs. In doing so, it helps reduce the intensity of “heat islands.” If you’re an architect who has worked with metal, you already know about metal’s durability and environmentally friendly qualities. We’re sure these projects will reconfirm your belief and knowledge of the design possibilities with metal. We’re guessing you may learn something as well. If you haven’t worked with metal, these projects will almost certainly impress. Every year, the metal roofing manufacturers of vertical panels, natural metal products and metal shingles impress our staff with their favorite projects. Metal’s versatility allows you to complete a project with an endless spectrum of color, in a variety of shapes. These projects show what metal roofing products are capable of when pushed by creative minds. Hopefully they’ll inspire you to learn a little more about metal — and we want to help.
