The Coloradoan.com reported last week that officials in Larimer County, Colorado have signed a $14.8 million settlement in a lawsuit over design and construction flaws on metal buildings at the county’s fairground complex called The Ranch.

An agreement was reached in January between the county, the general contractor, and the designers and fabricators. The suit was filed after a portion of the roof on one of the exhibition halls buckled under heavy snow.

The Coloradoan.com article noted that the investigation revealed defects in the design and construction of the building. The exhibition hall was replaced with a $6 million insurance settlement, but other buildings in the complex affected by the investigation findings of defects, including an indoor arena, livestock pavilions and a maintenance building, are still in dispute. A lawsuit by the county against its insurance carrier is pending.
