Rendering of House United, which will be topped with a DECRA Shingle XD.

DECRA Roofing Systems, Inc., a leading manufacturer of stone coated steel roofing, announced  DECRA Shingle XD will be featured on the 2012 House United home at both the Republican and Democratic national conventions. DECRA has been a NextGen participant since 2005 and is proud to be the official roofing sponsor for many NextGen project homes.

In a celebration of America, a home is being built in two halves and in two different cities, Tampa, Fla., and Charlotte, N.C., during the National Republican and Democratic Conventions. The House United host and spokesperson, Ty Pennington, will greet volunteers at each event and at the final “reveal.” The two halves of the home will then go to a lot in Charlotte, N.C., be assembled, finished and then donated to a deserving veteran.

DECRA’s featured profile, Shingle XD in Natural Slate, has the rich bold appearance of heavy-weight architectural shingle at a fraction of the weight. DECRA Shingle XD is lightweight, durable and provides safety and security beyond other roofing products. Made of corrosion resistant, aluminum-zinc alloy coated steel with an acrylic bonded stone chip finish, the steel substrate used to make DECRA Roofing products contains upwards of 25 percent post-consumer recycled steel content, and is 100 percent recyclable at the end of its life. DECRA Shingle XD will add wonderful appeal to this home, complementing the traditional craftsman inspired look of the home for years to come.

DECRA Roofing Systems have been providing ageless beauty, superior performance and lasting durability for over 50 years. DECRA profiles are backed by a 50-year limited warranty, a 120 mph wind warranty, are Class 4 impact resistant, and steel is a non-combustible Class A rated material. Stone coated steel does not use asphalt in the manufacturing process, all water run-off meets World Health Organization standards and does not harm the groundwater – just one more reason to choose DECRA.
