MRA announces new contractor initiative aimed at a continuing growth in the metal roofing marketplace /
Over the past decade, the Metal Roofing Alliance has been instrumental in growing residential market share from 3 percent to 10 percent in the U.S. and Canada.
In fact, as homeowners have come to understand its durability and benefits, metal is now the second most popular roofing product in North America. However, the number of MRA residential contractors needs to grow significantly to keep up with the demand created by the alliance. For a small investment, roofers can become members of MRA, be listed on the website, receive cost effective local sales leads, and take advantage of many tools to help grow their business.
In order to further grow the market, MRA has entered into a long-term agreement with the home improvement experts at Dave Yoho Associates to provide extensive hands-on training and materials to support contractor growth.
“Selling in the residential market is very different than in the commercial segment where metal roofers have historically done very well,” says Tom Black, executive director of the MRA.
“Consumers have different questions and needs than a commercial building owner and the MRA is focused on providing resources to make in-home selling easier for contractors. Dave Yoho Associates will help us to develop these materials, as well as programs to recruit and train new contractors for the burgeoning homeowner market.”
Independent industry statistics prove the residential metal roofing market is a huge untapped opportunity for existing roofers and home improvement companies. Marketing contractors who are currently engaged in home improvement, for example companies selling windows or siding, can easily add metal roofing to their product offerings. In fact, it’s a natural fit.
“Combining ‘Investment Grade Metal Roofing’ with energy efficient siding and windows and doors can enable home improvement companies to offer a total exterior energy package to consumers when renovating their homes,” says Black.
MRA’s Yoho program will focus on developing sales and marketing materials to make adding metal an easy transition for existing contractors.
