PPG Industries will exhibit the complete line of environmentally progressive Duranar and Coraflon coatings for metal roofs and building panels in booth 419 at the 2012 International Roofing Expo in Orlando, February 22-24.
Duranar Ultra-Cool and Superl II Ultra-Cool coatings are formulated with proprietary infrared-reflective pigments that deflect solar energy away from buildings, which enables buildings to stay cooler and consume less energy. PPG also will present Duranar Vari-Cool coatings for metal building panels, which feature special pigments that shift color according to ambient lighting conditions and the angle from which they are viewed.
Duranar and Superl II Ultra-Cool coatings comply with the Energy Star reflectance limits for steep-slope or low-slope roofing products. Also, PPG has registered more than 250 Ultra-Cool coatings colors with the Cool Roof Rating Council. Metal roof manufacturers at the Roofing Expo can meet with PPG representatives there to expedite registration of their cool roof coating colors with the CRRC and Energy Star programs.
Visitors to the PPG booth will find information about Duranar and Coraflon powder coatings, which combine the aesthetic advantages of traditional liquid coatings with the environmental and durability benefits of powder coatings. Compared to traditionally manufactured powder coatings, Duranar powder coatings require 40 percent less time to produce and achieve close to 100 percent first-run, batch-to-batch color consistency. They also are less expensive to transport, use less water and generate 15 percent less manufacturing waste than liquid coatings.
