Delmar, part of Cengage Learning and a leading provider of learning solutions for ongoing career development and education, and DeWalt released handbooks on two of the most important topics in construction, code adherence and jobsite safety.

The DeWalt Construction Safety and OSHA Handbook is the most recent addition to the DeWalt Professional Reference series. This new title covers topics on general safety management and current Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements.

The DeWalt Construction Safety & OSHA Handbook takes important safety topics and OSHA regulations and breaks down the complex language into an organized handbook of simple, straight-forward text. This new book provides comprehensive coverage on the requirements, standards and safe work practices that should be adhered to on jobsites.  It offers guidance for creating a jobsite safety program, and includes numerous forms, checklists and examples. The DeWalt Construction Safety & OSHA Handbook also provides straightforward explanations of how to comply with OSHA recordkeeping requirements and detailed instructions that explain the process of an OSHA inspection, among other topics.

“We think that workers will be pleased with this new addition to the Delmar and DeWalt Professional Reference series,” says Greg Clayton, vice president, Delmar. “Many competing books on jobsite safety management and OSHA requirements simply replicate complex OSHA language and offer little explanatory information surrounding the core concepts. With the DeWalt Construction Safety and OSHA Handbook, which was created specifically for professionals rather than classroom use, workers can focus on OSHA-compliant practices and prepare themselves for real-world situations without being bogged down by complicated regulatory language. The book’s step-by-step approach uses many illustrations and diagrams to depict critical concepts and techniques for maximum comprehension of the material presented.”

The DeWalt Construction Safety & OSHA Handbook is an addition to the Delmar and DeWalt Professional Reference series, which presents a series of products covering broad topical appeal, retail-friendly manufacturing specifications and content presentation geared specifically for professionals. The DeWalt Residential Construction Codes Complete Handbook presents the 2012 International Residential Code in a clear, logical format so that professionals can easily understand and identify the most common code requirements for building one- or two-family dwellings.  Sections of the book cover a wide range of residential construction topics, including administrative standards, definitions of terms, building planning, foundations, floors, walls, roofs, chimneys and fireplaces, energy efficiency, mechanical, plumbing and electrical. Topics are accompanied by detailed illustrations that help to explain how the codes are applied in real-world situations. A few examples of the many compelling features include:

·         Consolidated Coverage — The text within provides a comprehensive summary covering all facets of the 2012 International Residential Code in a condensed and easy to read format.
·         Less Text-Heavy — Research and experience have indicated that professionals prefer content to be presented in short, powerful textual elements, as opposed to long, paragraph-heavy sections.
·         Instructional Illustrations — Dynamic, real-world illustrations provide clear instruction on complex code topics.
·         Inexpensive Code Reference Option — The DeWalt Residential Construction Codes Complete Handbook provides broad code coverage at an affordable price.

“We are excited to present another addition to our popular Complete Handbook series of DeWalt reference titles,” says Greg Clayton, vice president, Delmar. “The author, Lynn Underwood, is certified by the International Code Council and has been in the industry for 27 years. He uses his extensive knowledge of code development and building safety to translate intricate code language into an easy-to-follow guide that will be useful for all residential construction professionals.”
