The announcement of the Buildings of the Year Awards is one of the highlights of the annual Frame Building Expo. A large audience gathered for the National Frame Building Association awards luncheon at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Ky., on February 19, 2015, to honor the winners of these prestigious awards for 2014.
The 2014 contest, like the 2013 contest, had two main divisions for the award entries: the Experts Division (for companies with $0–6 million in annual gross volume) and the Masters Division (for companies with $6+ million in annual gross volume). In all, 56 projects in 25 categories were honored, including the Judges’ Award presented for one exceptional project.

2014 Judges’ Award
Sam Kuhn, Walters Buildings
The creation of this lodge in Fountaintown, Ind., involved a four-year journey from concept drawings to completion. The great room has vaulted ceilings with a girder truss–supported windowed cupola. The second floor has two complete bedrooms with full bathrooms. A spiral staircase leads to the third floor with a hot-tub room and a dormer-covered walk-out deck. A fireplace serves as the centerpiece of the great room.
