Trade shows are the best! You see evolving technology at work and meet professionals in your business. Suppliers, builders, tech specialists, manufacturers … they all know the value of leads generated at trade shows. It’s why you attend.
Exhibitors and attendees have to track contacts, business cards and notes, then file them properly to follow up. Frankly, it’s a mess.
In developing our own trade show, the Construction Rollforming Show, which takes place at the Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati on December 12-13, we discovered a handy — and free — app that will help you wrangle in all of your trade show contacts.
And we mean ALL of them. It makes keeping track of those valuable trade-show leads a whole lot easier, by using the QR Codes already on badges.
How The Badge Scanner App Works
Today, it’s standard for trade show producers to include a QR code (a type of matrix barcode) on every registration badge. Code readers are used to scan visitors’ badges so exhibitors can gauge how successful the show was.
What we recently learned is that code-reading apps like the EventPilot Badge Scanner app will scan QR codes from ANY trade show that have been coded with registration information (such as name, title, company, telephone number, email, etc.).
The Badge Scanner works without wi-fi and reads all the information that is coded into the QR code and saves it in the mobile app.
You can even add your own detailed notes to each lead. Stored in the app, the leads can then be exported as an email attachment (CSV file that can be opened with Excel). You can either keep them stored in the app, or clean them out. The ease of use and control are impressive.
So, you can have your leads and follow up on them, too.
Download the free app and try it yourself …. let us know what you think. We look forward to you tracking us down at the Construction Rollforming Show, the International Roofing Expo, and the Frame Building Expo to scan our badges. We’ll see you on the trade show floor!
