A new online training course from the Propane Education & Research Council helps construction professionals integrate propane in off-grid residential construction projects.

The course, “Choosing to Live Off-Grid: Energy Generation and Fuel Choices,” is available on www.buildwithpropane.com and is approved by the National Association of Home Builders, the American Institute of Architects, and the U.S. Green Building Council.

“The adoption of renewable energy sources and a growing desire for energy independence have increased the popularity of off-grid living,” PERC President and CEO Roy Willis said. “This training course helps construction professionals leverage the advantages of propane in off-grid living.”

The course provides construction professionals with a solid understanding of off-grid living and the key drivers behind its growing popularity. It covers selecting a fuel source, choosing appliances, integrating a standby generator with renewable energy systems, and other topics. The course also offers an overview of new innovations in standby generators and double-duty appliances that can serve as a water heater and provide heat for radiant flooring.
